Freeview, Freesat and Sky

Freeview & Satellite

Freeview is the name of the UK's digital terrestrial TV service, delivered to your home through an aerial.

Available on TVs, set-top boxes and PVRs (personal video recorders), Freeview offers the UK's most popular TV and radio channels, accessible for a one-off payment

It's a great choice if you're on a budget and don't want to be tied into a subscription package, but lacks the choice of pay-TV services from Sky and Virgin Media, or even the subscription-free satellite TV alternative, Freesat.

You can receive Freeview on a range of different devices, including video recorders. Several broadband providers also offer a Freeview service - they'll provide you with a PVR so you can pause and rewind live TV and, in some cases, record it too.

We can supply and install from a set top box to a full aerial system.

Freesat

Freesat is a digital satellite TV service from the BBC and ITV, offering even more free channels than are available on Freeview.

As with Freeview, there are no ongoing fees and you don't have to worry about a contract - but you'll need a dish fitted to your home to receive Freesat.

While this can require an initial outlay, it may suit those who don't get the best reception with Freeview. You'll also need a Freesat set-top box - some of which allow you to pause and rewind live TV.

Sky

Sky TV is a television service which uses satellites to transmit programming to dishes on the ground. It provides high quality picture and sound, a huge number of channels and does not rely on fixed lines so it can be installed on any property within the satellite’s coverage area - which is the whole of the UK and Ireland and some parts of Europe.

With a Sky TV deal you can get access to an incredible number of channels. There are more than 700 TV and radio broadcasts in total, covering everything from news and sports to general entertainment and hobbies.

The selection of channels you receive will vary depending on which type of Sky TV package is selected. For example, the Sky TV Entertainment Pack provides channels such as Comedy Central, SyFy and Sky Atlantic, while Entertainment Extra unlocks channels such as Eurosport, National Geographic and many of the “+1” services. Take this into account when choosing your Sky TV deal so you get access to all the channels you want, but don’t worry if you’re missing something: TV packs can be added (and removed) at any time without extra cost or worrying about contract terms.

You also get access to Freeview channels, which of course includes BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 as well as other popular channels such as Dave, Challenge, Film4 and E4.

Freesat from Sky

Freesat from Sky is a satellite TV service from Sky that doesn't require an ongoing fee, allowing you to watch Sky TV without needing a subscription. Existing Sky customers can switch to Freesat from Sky to cut their costs, although they won't get access to the premium sports and movies that Sky offers.
